My father was very fond of Kouros. Not long ago when he passed away I realised that Kouros isn’t as half bad as I made it out to be. I guess that although I’m in my very early 20s, I tend to overlook musky scents, but YSL Kouros is up there for a dad fragrance!! One of the most aromatic fragrances. I just received a bottle and I don't know if it suits a man in his 20s. I want to know your opinion on that. I know it's not for everyone, like a pleaser fragrance. But it's pretty unique and I like it. I so wish YSL re-releases Kouros in an EDP concentration or maybe just a new flanker of some sort, but that's not very likely to happen. From just how you just described it to me, L'eau d'ete turned out to be what I thought Sport would be like. So a while back, I decided to track and collect YSL's Kouros and all its flankers, all 11 versions! My goal is to satisfy the curiosity that I have developed as a fragrance lover. I want to get into the heads of the perfumers, and see exactly what it is they were thinking when the flankers were produced.
I'm wearing OG Kouros today. I always enjoy the masculinity this exudes and can wholeheartedly understand why it's too much for some. IT simply works great on my skin and skin-type. This thread has me intrigued about Eau de Kouros and Fraicheur.
I think YSL essentially neutered Kouros and made it an easier appealing fragrance while still having a vintage vibe. But the honeyed aspect. where is it? What happened?!
Yves Saint Laurent’s official blurb: “A timeless scent of triumphant masculinity, inspired by iconic Greek sculpture of ideal young manhood. First notes of chypre, coriander and cove exhibit an impetuous spirit yet reserved nature. Perhaps the most radically polarizing designer release of all time, Kouros, the King, the God of Scents, is a bracing blend of deep, mysterious, dirty animalic musks and soapy florals and aldehydes brought together by a decadent honey accord. A civet-laden, woody, musky fougere, heavy on the jaw-clenched bitterness of artemisia, it is a unique marvel of olfactory art. Somehow both divinely clean – like a disinfecting tussle with a bonfire – and sacrilegiously filthy, it’s monolithic, recognisable and detailed.Yves Saint Laurent’s Kouros is an unmistakable powerhouse fragrance from the 1980s, celebrated for its bold, daring character. With prominent notes of civet, honey, and incense, it projects an intense, animalic, and slightly spicy warmth.
